AHR EXPO SETS NEW ATTENDANCE RECORD AT 2011 LAS VEGAS SHOW
More Than 54,000 Attend Worldʼs Largest HVACR Event

Westport, Connecticut, February 3, 2011 – The combination of an improving economy and the inaugural Las Vegas location proved to be a winning hand for the 2011 AHR Expo held January 31-February 2 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. More than 54,000 registered HVACR professionals (over 34,000 attendees and 20,000 exhibitor personnel) filled the aisles of the 63rd AHR Expo to see all the latest products and innovations on display from 1,938 exhibiting companies.
In addition to becoming the largest Western AHR Expo in the Showʼs illustrious 80-year history, this yearʼs event was also the largest Show ever held outside of Chicago or New York. The total attendance surpassed the 2004 Anaheim Show by over 40 percent while the 1,938 exhibiting companies and 379,360 square feet of exhibit space were 16 percent bigger than the Anaheim Show. The 1,938 exhibiting companies also rank as the second largest number for any Show. Included in the record-breaking number of exhibitors were over 200 first-time exhibitors and nearly 400 international companies from 31 different countries.
However, the success of the Show was as much about the quality of attendees as the quantity. According to many of the exhibiting companies, visitors came ready to buy. “We are very, very pleased,” said Tanya Bradby, Portfolio Leader, Air Handling Insulation Systems, Johns Manville. “We are seeing an increased level of optimism in the marketplace.”
These sentiments were echoed by Chuck Applebee, Product Manager, Mitsubishi Electric. “The interest has been extremely high. We had excellent traffic and received quality sales leads from many engineers and contractors.” Mitsubishi was also the winner of the 2011 AHR Expo Innovation Award “Product of the Year”.
“The challenging economy of the last two years has created pent-up demand for new products and technologies,” said Clay Stevens, president of International Exposition Company, which produces and manages the AHR Expo. “Now that the economy is starting to pick up, it appears are improving.” Stevens added that the Show being held in Las Vegas for the first time added to its success.
